Covid-19 Guidance Issued by CA Trustees
The Catholic Association Pilgrimage to Lourdes 2020
It is our intention to hold a pilgrimage this year between 21st and 28th August as planned. We will be constantly reviewing this, as and when guidance from authorities is received.
However, in light of the spread of Coronavirus, and guided by information shared by the World Health Organisation and the UK and French governments, we have taken the very difficult decision that we will sadly not be able to take assisted pilgrims and the Glanfield Group on our 2020 pilgrimage, nor to provide medical support.
This decision has been made after a great deal of thought, with the wellbeing of our assisted pilgrims and volunteers in mind.
As those with specific medical needs are among those most vulnerable to the virus, and with our usual medical volunteers in high demand in response to the pandemic, we are sure that this approach is the most responsible for all our fellow pilgrims, particularly those whose health and security is at the core of everything we do.
By definition, our pilgrimage would be in a revised format, and if so, certainly no volunteer or medical support would be provided.
What now?
But that doesn’t mean that it’s over for 2020 for our assisted pilgrims. We’re currently working on brand-new ways to keep everyone connected, to keep the spirit of the pilgrimage alive, and to share the Lourdes experience amongst us all at home. Over the next months, we’ll update you on how we’re doing this, on this website and our social media channels, so keep visiting our pages.
And in 2021, we will ALL be back together in Lourdes, bigger and stronger in celebration.
